Shelly Dubois
Biography
“It starts with a song . The songs that can take your breath
away or leave
you with a tear in your
eye. Add this to a beautiful, clear, natural voice
as strong as anybody
coming out of Nashville these days”
(Robert
McCourty, Artistic
Director, Island Folk Festival) .
Couple this with
exceptional stage skills
as an entertainer and you have Shelly Dubois.
An independent country
music artist – singer/songwriter born and raised
in Peace River, Alberta
but now makes her home on Vancouver Island,
British Columbia.
Shelly’s music is being
played on community/university radio and
internet radio stations
in Canada, US and Europe. Through web
promotion, Shelly has
built a strong and growing fan base through
Reverbnation, MySpace,
and Facebook, and continues to be in the top 5
on the country charts on
Reverbnation for Lower Mainland and
Vancouver Island,
British Columbia as well as being in the Top 20 on
the National charts.
Shelly has a video for the title track of her CD “I’m
Not Lookin’ Back” which
can be viewed online on YouTube at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5mUBdSDIAQ
.
Shelly and her
band perform at a
variety of venues and she even puts on concerts to
help raise money for her
charity “Chantal Dubois Memorial Fund” to
help families
financially that have a child battling cancer. She also
works with BC Childhood
Cancer Parents Association (BCCCPA) in
this regard. In
addition, Shelly also donates $3.00 from the sale of each
CD towards the charity.
Shelly continues to
write songs and has been honing her writing skills
by working with her
mentor Larry Wayne Clark
(award winning
songwriter and wrote
hits for Lee Greenwood and the Statler Brothers).
She has also been
collaborating with other songwriters and feels she has
the right material to
record on her next CD. Her plan is to record in
Nashville with award
winning Canadian producer Bart McKay
(Gord
Bamford, Shane
Yellowbird, Six West, Hey Romeo)
this year.
In May, 2008, Shelly
self-released her
debut CD
“I’m Not Lookin’
Back”.
Having written all ten tracks,
complimented by her true country
voice, Shelly is able to
convey personal stories that her fans can relate
to. From a true
country/classic sound to the country/rock sound heard
today, Shelly appeals to
listeners of all ages. “It’s all about music and
making a connection with
my fans. If I accomplish that, I'll have done
what I have set out to
do as an artist”.
Shortly after the
release of her CD, Shelly’s twenty year old daughter
lost her two year battle
to brain cancer. Suffering such a loss, Shelly’s
grief took her away from
everything for a few years. With the
encouragement of family
and friends, Shelly returned to the music
world and she and her
band are now gigging, performing songs from her
debut CD, new originals,
as well as covers from some of her favorite
country artists. Whether
it is in an intimate coffee shop setting or a pub,
club, festival, open air
concert or a dance, Shelly is confident that her
show will be sure to
impress.

The Accidentz
Formed in Shawnigan Lake, The Accidentz are a young Canadian Rock
band.
The band formed out of the fertile musing of Jordan Brockhurst
and Cam Jervis,
who would later pick up bassist and rockstar supreme
Brett Hux, and Tramp-
boarding inventor and enthusiast Nicholas Chu on
drums.
They’ve created a
sonic sound similar to both The Strokes and Deathcab
for Cutie, Coldplay and
The Shins, Tokyo Police Club and The Beatles. Similarly hard
hitting and grandiose, songs such as “Andy” and “Full Bloom” give the
band a unique but approachable sound.

Canadians are an indie rock band consisting of Connor Head (16) on
